Mainframe Specialist

The client is looking for a strong MF Application Specialist/Developer with the business acumen in Insurance/Compensation and/or Customer Service areas to assist project team to align Business expectations to Technical solutions. 

​The successful candidate must be technically sufficient with Mainframe, Middleware, and Open Systems coding base concepts, and should be able to quantify both technical and functional impact of affected system modifications. Scheduling and knowledge of processes using CA-7, CAD experience is an asset.   

Resource Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test workflows.  
  


• Deploy components development tools, code repositories and logging tools. 
  


• Support the launch and implementation of CPP changes. 
  


• Create process and end-user documentation. 
  


• Work with Business Analyst, Project Manager, QA resources and other cross-functional resources to define and deliver business impacting changes. 
  


• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure proper implementation and integration of the solutions. 
  


• Provide knowledge transfer of relevant technologies and business processes.​

Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent Communication Skills; 
  


• Mainframe/Middleware developer background [working experience]; 
  


• Proven working experience as a Mainframe Developer (CICS/Cobol); 
  


• Working experience as a technical System Analyst; 
  


• Working experience using Agile methodology; 
  


• Working experience within fast paced environment; 
  


• Ability to work both independently, and within team atmosphere; 
  


• Strong analytical and technical skills; 
  


• Strong project management and organization skills 
  


• Strong Vendor Management skills 
  


• Scheduling (CA-7, CAD and/or Batch runner) experience 
  


• Mainframe System Automation 
  


• Strong Mainframe (CICS/Cobol), Windows and UNIX knowledge 
  


• Detail oriented 
  

Skillset

• 5+ years’ experience with Mainframe and/or CICS Cobol development 
  


• 3+ years with technical analysis and creation of application solution designs 
  


• 5+ years experience as an Application Developer or Systems Analyst (or both) 
  


• 3+ years working within Agile development structures 
  


• 2+ years experience in Mainframe automation/scheduling processes 
  


• 3+ years experience working with Integrations between Mainframe, Middleware MQ and Open systems
