Job Description - Manager, Glenview Campground

Location: Glenview Campground (Whycocomagh)


Position Type: Full-Time seasonal (April 1- Oct 31, 2025)



Reporting to the Director of Retail Operations, the Campground Manager will be responsible for the overall management and operation of Glenview RV Campground. This includes ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction, maintaining the campground facilities, managing staff, and overseeing financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a passion for outdoor recreation.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Oversee daily operations of the campground, including guest services, reservations, and maintenance.

  • Manage and train campground staff, ensuring a high standard of service and professionalism.

  • Monitor and maintain campground facilities, including cabins, restrooms, and recreational areas.

  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and emergencies in a professional and timely manner.

  • Coordinate with local vendors and service providers for supplies and maintenance needs.

  • Plan and organize events and activities to enhance the guest experience.



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES



  • Degree or diploma in hospitality management or related field.

  • First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Experience with marketing and promotional activities.

  • 3–5 years of experience in hospitality, tourism, or campground operations, including customer service, reservations, and site maintenance, with 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve conflicts effectively.

  • Familiarity with reservation systems and campground management software.

  • Passion for outdoor activities and environmental stewardship.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

CONTACTS


Internal Contacts:



  • Report to the Director of Operations at We'koqma'q First Nation.

  • Work closely with the Human Resources Department for staff management and training.



External Contacts:



  • Liaise with local vendors and service providers for supplies and maintenance needs.

  • Network with other campground managers and industry professionals.

  • Engage with community organizations and local businesses for promotional and partnership opportunities.

  • Communicate with guests and address their needs and concerns.


 


INNOVATION



  • Develops and implements new ideas to improve guest experience, operational efficiency, and revenue generation while maintaining safety and cultural integrity.

  • Identifies opportunities for enhanced services, such as new events, activities, or marketing strategies, to attract and retain guests.

  • Recommends process improvements for reservations, maintenance scheduling, and staff training to streamline operations.


 


DECISION MAKING



  • Works with the Director of Retail Operations to support daily operational decisions, staffing needs, and guest service matters, ensuring all actions align with established policies and budget limits.

  • Collaborates with the Director of Retail Operations to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance campground safety and improve the guest experience.

  • Exercises judgment in handling guest complaints, emergencies, and safety concerns, escalating only critical or high-risk situations to senior leadership.


 


IMPACT OF RESULTS



  • Directly influences guest satisfaction, repeat business, and the overall reputation of the campground through quality service and well-maintained facilities.

  • Affects financial performance by managing budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring accurate revenue collection and reporting.

  • Impacts staff morale and productivity through effective leadership, training, and scheduling practices.

  • Plays a key role in compliance with safety regulations and cultural standards, reducing risk and liability for the organization.


 


WORKING CONDITIONS


Physical Environment



  • The role is performed in an outdoor campground setting for significant portions of the day and may involve exposure to rain, extreme heat and cold, and other changing weather conditions.

  • Work is split between on‑site operational areas (cabins, restrooms, recreational spaces) and indoor/office tasks for scheduling, reporting, and coordination.

  • The environment can be busy during peak seasons and events, with frequent interaction with guests, staff, and community partners.


 


Physical Effort



  • The position requires regular walking across uneven terrain and standing for extended periods while overseeing daily operations and events.

  • The role involves routine lifting and carrying of supplies or equipment (up to and possibly exceeding 50lbs) and periodic set‑up and tear‑down of event materials.

  • Occasional bending, reaching, and moving of light fixtures or signage is required to maintain facilities and support activities.


 


Sensory Attention



  • Sustained visual attention is required to inspect facilities, monitor safety conditions, and review schedules, reports, and reservation information.

  • Continuous auditory attention is needed to respond to guest inquiries, staff communications, radios/phones, and event announcements.

  • Periods of concentrated focus occur during incident response, financial reconciliation, and when coordinating multiple vendors or activities simultaneously.


 


Mental Pressures



  • The role involves managing time‑sensitive issues in a fast‑paced environment, including handling guest complaints, emergencies, and service disruptions.

  • The position requires frequent decision‑making under pressure, balancing guest satisfaction, safety, staffing, and budget constraints.

  • Flexible hours, weekend/holiday coverage, and on‑call responsibilities can create variable routines and the need to respond to urgent issues outside regular hours.
