Job Description - Mental Health Clinician - (18-Month Term Position)

SAGKEENG CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (SCFS) is looking for a FULL-TIME MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN. You practice empathy, understanding and patience. You promote a safe therapeutic environment. You will be joining a creative, initiative, and dynamic multi-disciplinary team. You are knowledgeable of SCFS, Sagkeeng First Nation and Indigenous culture. This position reports to SCFS Biidaaziiway Gamik Unit Clinical Director. SCFS offers competitive salary and benefits


 


Qualifications:



  • Master’s Degree in social services (Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Education (Clinical/Counselling)). Related field and experience will be considered.

  • Three (3) years’ recent, related experience working with children, youth and families in a mental health setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Current membership/registration with the appropriate registering/licensing body.

  • Valid MB Driver’s License. Travel will require the use of a personal vehicle.



Skills and Abilities:



  • Understanding of Manitoba’s health and social welfare system.

  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health/psychiatric problems in children and youth.

  • Knowledgeable of mental illness diagnosis, treatment, and psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects).

  • Knowledgeable of psychotherapeutic and counseling skills. - Knowledgeable of other facilities and community resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform psychosocial assessments and provide treatment planning and care.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to take clinical input and direction.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve. - Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict and crisis situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultation, leadership, and work direction.
