PARKS OPERATOR – SEASONAL CONTRACT (7 Existing + 2 New Temporary Full Time Positions – April to December 2026)
The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a reliable and self‑motivated individual(s) to join our Parks team in the role of Parks Operator. This position plays a key role in maintaining the Town’s parks, trails, beachfront areas, sports fields and recreational spaces, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and enjoyable for residents and visitors’ year‑round.
Position Overview: The Parks Operator supports the daily maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of Town parks, playgrounds, trails, sports fields, open spaces, and associated facilities and equipment within the Parks Division of the Public Works Department. Responsibilities include routine inspections, general repairs, groundskeeping, and ensuring public spaces remain safe and well‑maintained. The role also includes litter control and garbage removal across municipal park sites, as well as assisting with horticultural tasks and supporting set‑up and operations for community events as assigned.
Education & Training:
Secondary school diploma (or equivalent) required.
Completion of, or current enrollment in, a horticulture or turf management program is an asset.
Standard First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS training considered an asset.
ORFA Cemetery Operations and Management certification considered an asset.
Experience & Skills:
Demonstrated experience in landscaping and park maintenance, including grass cutting, trail maintenance, horticulture, snow removal, garden care, and minor repairs.
Proficient in the safe operation of landscaping tools, equipment, and lawn‑care machinery.
Ability to safely maneuver trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
Strong leadership and training abilities, with the capacity to guide seasonal or junior staff.
Effective organizational, time‑management, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Proven ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with the public and staff.
Additional Requirements:
Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check, upon hire.
Physically capable of performing all job‑related tasks, including heavy lifting and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Reliable and flexible, with the ability to work an “Alternate Shift” (Sunday to Saturday, 80-hours per pay period, between the hours of 5:00 am to 9:00 pm).

Hourly rate: $28.13, Casual rate as per CUPE Collective Agreement
