Reclamation Inspector (Contract)

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Reclamation Inspector. In this position, you will play a key role in conducting reclamation of disturbed or deficient sites to ensure hazards and deficiencies are addressed and disturbed land is returned to a capability that is compatible with surrounding vegetation and land use and equivalent to pre-disturbance conditions. 

In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the successful implementation of Trans Mountain’s Reclamation Program, contributing to the long‑term environmental stewardship of our pipeline right‑of‑way. The Reclamation Inspector will be actively engaged in all phases of reclamation activities, including desktop assessments, field coordination, development of reclamation plans, and diligent management and tracking of field data for reporting purposes.

The successful candidate will ensure that reclamation efforts meet program goals and targets outlined in the Post‑Construction Environmental Monitoring (PCEM) program, address landowner concerns, and comply with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for reclamation activities within assigned region(s), ensuring strong communication and coordination across internal teams and external stakeholders.


• Conduct site inspections and assessments to identify reclamation needs and provide informed, actionable recommendations.


• Support PLM and contractors during field execution by addressing reclamation‑related concerns, ensuring adherence to reclamation plans, and facilitating communication between office and field personnel.


• Maintain accurate, detailed records of all reclamation‑related field activities, observations, and communications.


• Prepare required documentation, including Post‑Disturbance Assessment Forms and Site‑Specific Reclamation Plans, using field data and site evaluations.


• Update and manage the reclamation database to monitor project progress, milestones, and completion status.


• Ensure all reclamation activities comply with applicable environmental regulations, standards, and corporate policies.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.


• Professional Designations/Certification in environmental monitoring or reclamation for example: Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA), Professional Biologist etc.


• Familiarity with GIS and other environmental mapping tools.


• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental reclamation, environmental management, environmental inspection, or a related field.


• Previous field-based experience with Trans Mountain is considered an asset.


• Strong knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations, provincial reclamation guidelines and environmental policies.


• Prior experience conducting site assessments and environmental inspections and preparing environmental documentation, including reclamation plans.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly describe complex reclamation activities to stakeholders at various levels.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project goals.

Working Conditions

• Willingness and ability to travel as required.


• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.


• Will need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.


• Due to the nature of the work, flexibility in scheduling will be essential. Hours may vary to meet project timelines, accommodate fieldwork requirements, and adjust to seasonal conditions when reclamation activities are not feasible. The standard work week is anticipated to be five days, with shifts typically ranging from 8 to 12 hours per day. During the active field season, overtime and weekend work may be necessary, to ensure milestones are achieved.
