What you’ll be doing, the Registered Dietitian (RD) holds a pivotal position within the inter-professional team, providing essential dietetic services rooted in evidence-based practice and upholding rigorous standards of quality.  The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering nutritional care to patients in accordance with the guidelines set by the College of Dietitians of Ontario and the standards of nutrition care within the hospitals. Actively engaging with the healthcare team, the Registered Dietitian collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to uphold contemporary dietetic practices and strive for excellence in patient care. Moreover, you will serve as a nutrition expert, providing education to the multi-disciplinary team on standards and the delivery of nutrition care in alignment with the latest research findings.

Job Description

  • Utilize expertise in nutrition screening and assessment to ascertain the specific nutritional requirements of diverse patient demographics
  • Assess the efficacy of nutrition care plans and recommend necessary adjustments as warranted
  • Employ professional discretion to modify and implement guidelines, protocols, and professional care standards in response to evolving patient requirements
  • Analyze emerging trends and advancements in dietary methodologies, exploring their suitability for integration into the clinical nutrition regimen
  • Serve as an educator by designing, delivering, and/or engaging in training sessions and in-service educational initiatives
  • Engage in projects and initiatives, as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and an accredited dietetic internship program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada, an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a Special Care Nursery/Pediatrics
  • Experience with neonatal total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and Pasteurized Donor Milk Program
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical nutrition needs in infant and pediatric populations
  • Self-directed with strong critical thinking skills and ability to handle complex situations
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changes in patient care and the evolving healthcare landscape
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of patients and the profession itself
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrates a caring, respectful and professional approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Meditech Expanse (or comparable computer software programs

Additional Information

Hours: Monday to Friday; days, 7.5 hour shifts, 0800-1600 (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

Salary:  $40.011 to $56.425 per hour
