Job Title: Aboriginal Fishery Guardian, Seasonal Position, up to 15 weeks
Location of Position. Two positions for Western NL, Bay of Islands.
Hours of Work: Days, Evenings, Weekends, based on 35 hrs/week.
Rate of Pay: $22.58.18/Hr. plus 6% Vacation pay, paid bi-weekly.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Fisheries and Enforcement, The Guardians will be responsible for completing daily patrols, conducting environmental monitoring and research activities throughout their posting in Newfoundland.
Responsibilities:
Guardians are responsible for completing daily patrols as well as doing joint patrols with approved organizations as assigned. Guardians will assist in completing projects and any other projects or activities not included on this list as approved by Qalipu Natural Resources Director.
The Guardians will work with an assigned partner to conduct monitoring and research activities throughout their posting in Newfoundland. This is a field position. This position will include the following:

Experience:
Working Conditions: Guardians must be able to work early mornings and late evenings with activities including walking/hiking in all weather conditions, as well as be comfortable with travelling in different methods (ATV, boat, etc.). Employees must also be willing to contribute to the study and handling of various marine and terrestrial species.
This is a remote, field-based position that includes work on and around bodies of water and in forested areas. Duties may include strenuous physical activity and may need to be conducted in adverse weather conditions. A flexible schedule will be required to effectively deliver enforcement and research duties. Access to a reliable vehicle capable of accessing unpaved access roads is required.
