Roads Operator 1 - Winter Operations

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL JOB POSTING

• Ontario Secondary School diploma (or equivalent);
• Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Class “DZ” License – Acceptable Abstract will be required upon hire;
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on similar equipment and demonstrated experience in the safe operation of heavy-duty vehicles, including single axle and tandem axle plow and sander combination units, road and drainage maintenance experience and truck safety;
• Previous experience plowing snow in residential urban areas is preferred,
• Perform other such duties as may be assigned from time to time normally assigned to other job classifications;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to complete forms and records accurately;
• Knowledge and understanding of, and ability to apply, relevant safety policies, standards and legislation (Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, Highway Traffic Act, etc.);
• CPR and First Aid Training preferred;
• Ability to Work Winter Operations Shift Times (5:00 am - 1:30 pm OR 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm);
• Occasional weekend and call-in response may be required;
• Ability to provide an acceptable criminal reference check upon hire;
