In the role of Substation Project Engineer, you will be:
Lead and manage the design and execution of station-related projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Develop and review project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors, regulatory bodies, and consultants, to facilitate project delivery.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure that all engineering work adheres to the client’s safety standards, environmental policies, and quality assurance protocols.
Prepare and present technical reports and project documentation to management and stakeholders.
Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder consultations to ensure alignment and clear communication.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve engineering processes and project outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Degree
Minimum of 8 years of experience in project engineering within the utilities or energy sector, with a focus on substations or power systems.
Strong understanding of regulatory codes and standards, including CSA, NESC, and ANSI / IEEE
Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages.
Provide regular progress updates and reporting on project deliverables.
Provide engineering and technical support, and reviews to field crews during construction.
Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
The compensation for this role is an hourly rate, Independent Contractor or Employee Hourly, $75-100/hour DOE. This role would be based in Kelowna office with site visits and travel to Trail, BC.
