- Delve into complex scenarios involving water hammer, surge, slugging, valve dynamics, pump/compressor trips, emergency shutdowns, and start-up/shutdown conditions.
- Develop, validate, and maintain hydraulic and transient models using cutting-edge industry-standard simulation tools.
- Identify potential vulnerabilities within systems and outline effective mitigation strategies, including surge relief systems, pressure control methods, valve sequencing, and control logic recommendations.
- Offer insightful technical review and assurance for transient analyses performed by others, ensuring the highest standards of quality.

Process Engineering & EPC Integration

- Integrate your findings on transient and hydraulic dynamics into cohesive process engineering deliverables, including line sizing, equipment sizing, control narratives, and operating philosophies.
- Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, technical reports, and formal recommendations suited for EPC execution and client review.
- Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, and system design documentation, ensuring early consideration of hydraulic factors in the design process.
- Uphold and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including CSA, ASME, API, AER, and recognized industry best practices, maintaining our commitment to excellence.

Project Support & Collaboration

- Collaborate closely with our mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, pipeline, and project management teams to ensure a seamless integrated EPC delivery.
- Play a vital role in commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities related to hydraulic and transient performance.
- Communicate your complex technical findings clearly and engagingly to clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders through presentations and written documentation.

- A Master’s degree in a related discipline is a valuable asset.
- P.Eng. registration with APEGA and/or EGBC, or eligibility to obtain, is essential.
- A U.S. P.E. designation will be considered a wonderful asset.

Experience

- 10+ years of dynamic experience in process, pipeline, or facility hydraulics engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in both transient and steady-state hydraulic analysis for oil & gas or industrial systems.
- Proven experience in evaluating surge, water hammer, slugging, and dynamic operating scenarios.
- Experience supporting EPC or EPCM projects through all critical design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Familiar with pipelines, compression facilities, gathering systems, and process facilities.

Technical Skills

Software & Tools

- Hydraulic & Transient Modeling: Synergi Pipeline Simulator, AFT Fathom, AFT Impulse (or equivalent)
- Process Simulation: Aspen HYSYS, VMG Symmetry
- Engineering documentation and digital tools such as Bluebeam and ConsignO.

Core Competencies

- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills for intricate hydraulic systems.
- Strong technical writing and reporting capabilities.
- Ability to effectively review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- A confident communicator in client-facing technical discussions.

Key Knowledge Areas
