Job Description - Student Engagement Worker

Student Engagement Worker



Classification:  Full time, Term (July 2, 2025 – August 29, 2025)


Salary:                $17.85 per hour


Location:           Williams Lake, BC


Deadline:         June 27, 2025


 


The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yuneŝit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.


 


We are seeking a motivated and outgoing Community Engagement Intern to support our outreach efforts. This role involves attending events in Tŝilhqot’in communities to demonstrate Tŝilhqot’in mobile apps, educate users on their features, and assist with other communication tasks such as gathering feedback, answering questions, and promoting our TNG initiatives.



Key Responsibilities



  • Travel to Tŝilhqot’in communities to conduct app demonstrations and user training sessions

  • Engage with community members to explain app features and benefits in a clear, accessible manner

  • Provide insights to the development teams through quality assurance testing on web applications and gathering feedback from Tŝilhqot’in users

  • Assist with content creation, such as social media updates, flyers, and posts, to promote digital tools

  • Represent the TNG at community events, workshops, and promotional activities

  • Support the communications team with outreach efforts, including responding to inquiries and assisting with online engagement

  • Administrative duties as required



Requirements



  • Must be enrolled in school and must be taking full time courses in September 2025

  • Strong communication and public speaking skills

  • Comfortable working with mobile apps and digital platforms

  • Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic about technology and community engagement

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills

  • Knowledge of the Tŝilhqot’in Nation, culture and language



Working Conditions



  • Travel may be required

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware

  • Overtime as required

  • Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required
