Job Description - Temporary Community Engagement Coordinator (approx. 9 months)
New Horizon Co-op is hiring a Temporary Community Engagement Coordinator at our Resource Office in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

What you’ll do:
Support the Director of Community Engagement in planning, coordinating, and executing sponsorship opportunities, including evaluating incoming requests and supporting ongoing community partnerships
Manage and coordinate all donation requests, ensuring alignment with the organization’s community investment strategy, values, and budget. Maintain accurate records, track impact, and prepare reports as needed
Identify and explore new opportunities for community involvement, outreach, and engagement that align with strategic objectives
Create and support internal and external communications related to community initiatives, including content for social media, newsletters, and promotional materials.
Monitor, listen, and respond to customers in a manner that builds a positive community and encourages engagement
Foster strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and local organizations to enhance the organization's presence and impact
Attend and assist with planning of Co-op sponsored events
Perform additional duties as required

Who you are and what you have:
1-2 years of experience in community engagement, preferably in the retail industry
Must have a valid Alberta Drivers License
Passion for community building and representing the organization in a positive, professional manner
Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities, stakeholders, and partners
Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekend as required for events
Knowledge of local community needs and resources is considered a strong asset
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and community requests
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as contribute to a team environment
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, and comfortable with public speaking
