Job Description



Title: Mobile Market Food Box Organizer


Reports to: Family and Community Health, Manager


Position Type: Contract, Part-Time (28 hr/week, 1 year contract)


Salary: $21.34 - $25.10/hour

Location: Kingston


 


Position Summary


The Mobile Market Food Box Organizer is a key operational role responsible for the coordination and execution of the monthly Good Food Box and Seniors’ Food Box programs.


Working closely with Community Development, this role ensures the efficient packing and delivery of 800+ food boxes to families and seniors. Core duties involve managing the logistics chain—from taking orders and procuring wholesale food items to organizing distribution. A major component of the role is managing volunteers, including recruitment, training, and mentoring a team of 40+ individuals who assist with packing and door-to-door delivery route planning.


 


Key Responsibilities 



  • Works in the community and assist in identifying the need for various health promotion initiatives

  • Works closely with community members around issues which affect their health, such as food security, poverty, transportation, access to dental care, and housing.

  • Co-chairs health and social service working groups such as poverty reduction and L&A health and social service coalition.

  • Active member of working groups such as youth task force of Napanee, Children and youth steering committee, youth IPI, etc.

  • Works with community members in developing community initiatives that promote community strengths/assets and address community challenges.

  • Establishes links and work with other community groups, agencies and policy/decision makers in order to address community and systemic issues

  • Organizes annual community development /capacity building event

  • Assists the community in planning and implementing health promotion initiatives, working with facilitators to foster group independence and self-sufficiency

  • Participates in planning and implementing health promotion programs

  • Provides case management support to youth

  • Develops agreements with local partner agencies to provide staff resources to the Chill Zone.

  • Engages and supports community members, particularly those within priority groups identified in KCHC’s strategic plan

  • Keeps abreast of major innovations and changes in social policy which affect community well-being

  • Supervises projects, initiatives or program staff as required

  • Provides leadership, under the guidance of the manager, to the Chill Zone program and staff by overseeing program delivery. Leads the program planning of various activities and events as well as coordinating and scheduling staff shifts.

  • Works within and manages the agreed upon budget for programs and community development work with community initiatives, including meal planning and the purchasing of program materials.

  • Develops and writes proposals for programs and community groups and initiatives ; organizes fundraisers

  • Participates in committee work and staff meetings

  • Documents group and individual encounters in NOD; Record and maintain all data as required

  • Supports KCHC’s student and volunteer placement programs

  • On occasion, perform other temporary duties as required


 


Basic Education and Experience Requirements



  • Undergraduate degree in health, social work, social services, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience operating or working with food programs

  • Experience working with volunteers

  • Experience developing initiatives with multi project partners

  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications


 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience working with food security programs

  • Experience working with volunteers

  • Experience developing initiatives with multi project partners

  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications, expert knowledge of excel

  • Experience with delivery route mapping

  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including lifting up to 50lbs


 


Other Requirements



  • French language is an asset.

  • Valid Driver’s Licence, Driver’s Abstract and proof of vehicle liability insurance as this is a requirement under KCHC’s insurance provider (HIROC). This position has several locations of work throughout Kingston.
