Job Description - Accounting Clerk - Hiring Immediately

We are looking for an ambitious Accounting Clerk to join our passionate team at Naturally Pacific Resort in Campbell River, BC.

Responsibilities will include reconciling the bank accounts, coding transactions, reconciling sub-ledgers and accounts, providing ad-hoc reporting, analyzing financial reports, and completing month-end reporting and related transactions.

 

Your contributions to the team:

  • Reconciles bank accounts daily, identifies discrepancies and determines the reason, notifies relevant parties of any unresolved issues, makes related journal entries as needed
  • Reviews restaurant and golf course daily cash outs and enforces appropriate cash management procedures
  • Assists with implementation of policies and procedures, including communication and training of procedures to all necessary golf course staff
  • Uses computer systems to run databases, extract transaction details, and create reports
  • Calculates, prepares, and issues documents related to GL accounts such as invoices, inventory reports, account statements, and other financial statements
  • Codes, totals, batches, enters, verifies and reconciles transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, credit cards, purchase orders, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements
  • Monitors bank account balances and cash requirements on a weekly basis
  • Response to internal and external information requests, maintains good employee relations, and solves problems
  • Performs related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying
  • Stays current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends

 

What you need to be successful:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 1-year working experience in accounting
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Strong working skills in MS Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel
  • Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new software
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet established deadlines
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
