As part of the Technical Department, the Engineer carries out support functions by providing technical and electrical system engineering services throughout the NB Power's Northern plants (Belledune, Eel River, Millbank, Sainte Rose and Nepisiguit Falls). These activities include all aspects from conceptual design through to commissioning and operations. The Engineer is expected to ensure alignment with industry and corporate standards, policies, and procedures. They are involved in all functions of project management and control, and need to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on-time results.

Key functions include:

• Provide technical support and guidance to station personnel and perform equipment inspections, prepare inspection reports along with making recommendations on the repair and maintenance requirements of station equipment and electrical system(s).

• Oversee and manage contracts and projects to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective completion, including the preparation of tender specifications, tender documents, drawings, and cost estimates, along with the preparation of work scope packages and plans to support project execution.

• Maintain the accuracy of electrical system documentation and models for each site’s station electrical services power distribution network including the preparation of assessment studies and providing detailed design and project costing for electrical system upgrades and construction services.

Our ideal teammate will have:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering

• Registered (or be eligible for registration) as an Engineer in Training in the Province of New Brunswick

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Along with experience in power generation or heavy industry in any one of the following:

• Performing engineering designs, reviews, and analysis

• Preparing engineering drawings and reports

• Identifying technical requirements for modifications and/or new installations.

• Providing technical recommendation for equipment maintenance, repairs, and/or replacement

• Preparing technical specifications, tender reviews, and vendor selection

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
