Job Description - Environmental Field Consultant

Partner Staffing is the "goto recruiter" for difficult important and timesensitive positions in Western Canada. We work with proactive clients who understand the importance of having exceptional staff.

Partner Staffing is currently working with our client to find an Environmental Field Consultant for their Reclamation and Remediation team based out of their Edmonton area office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing reclamation and remediation plans on abandoned upstream oil and gas sites
  • Overseeing the completion of remediation and reclamation projects. Coordinating and supervising heavy equipment and other thirdparty contractors as required
  • Assisting with the oversight of client budgets tracking project statuses and making recommendations to progress sites toward regulatory closure
  • Coordinate and execute Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) site visits vegetation assessments Phase 2 ESA s and Detailed Site Assessments (DSA s)
  • Collaborate with members of the Technical Resource Group to develop sitespecific remediation guidelines
  • Develop and maintain relationships with landowners and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary groups (Technical Resource Group Data Management Group Spill Group Biophysical Group and Vegetation Group) to successfully execute client projects and programs
  • Compiling various technical documents including DSA reports Phase 2 ESA reports remediation reports and regulatory closure applications
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior staff
  • Provide support to senior staff as required

Requirements

  • 46 years of consulting experience related to remediation reclamation or environmental science
  • Proficient at completing Detailed Site Assessments using the 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Well sites and Associated Facilities
  • Familiar with the Alberta Tier 1 and 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines
  • Good understanding of upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in Alberta as well as British Columbia and Saskatchewan will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience working with various types of farming and heavy equipment
  • Excellent vegetation and weed identification skills in both forested and cultivated landscapes
  • Willingness to travel and be in the field as dictated by project requirements
  • Technical Diploma or University Degree in environmental science or related discipline
  • Eligibility to obtain professional designation with an organization such as the Alberta Institute of Agrologists
  • Excellent communication writing and problemsolving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database entry
  • Valid driver s license
  • Good physical health and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Willingness to work within a team environment
  • Highly organized and can prioritize multiple tasks

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) Fish identification Bird survey methodology and bird identification Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification Erosion and Sediment Control Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver 's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
