Job Description - Jr. Commercial Property Accountant & Leasing Administrator

Jr. Commercial Property Accountant & Leasing Administrator Location Calgary :

Our Commercial department is growing. We are seeking an individual to help support the team in an accounting and administrative capacity.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Accounting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare Rental Advise Notices for commercial tenants.
  • Collaborate with the Property Management team to develop annual budgets and accounting matters.
  • Ensure the accuracy of property financial statements through periodic reviews.
  • Track and invoice operating cost recoveries to tenants.
  • Assist with month-end payment processing.
  • Address issues related to electronic fund transfers and tenant cheques returned due to insufficient funds (NSF).
  • Assist in processing utility chargebacks.
  • Utilize the ERP system, MS Office, and perform data entry and document filing while ensuring compliance with privacy legislation.

Administrative & Leasing:

  • Respond to tenant inquiries regarding ledger balances, payment arrangements, and other financial matters.
  • Coordinating and preparing all tenant files/documentation to be sent to third party collections and processing write-offs, if necessary.
  • Regularly review and update rent rolls.
  • Direct the Marketing team in designing and updating property leasing brochures as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date online lease listings.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

  • 1-3 years of experience in a commercial property accounting role.
  • Familiarity with YARDI is considered an asset.
  • Previous exposure to commercial leases is advantageous.
  • Curiosity of the commercial real estate industry and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling a large volume of daily transactions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with an emphasis on accuracy.
  • Strong ability to work independently, while maintaining excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
