Job Description - PROJECT BUYER

Summary

The Projects buyer is responsible for the efficient operation of the Company’s procurement activities. This includes the creation and issuance of Purchase Orders, expediting of materials, updating of Bills of Material, and tracking of material.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Enrollment or professional certification in the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) is considered an asset.
  • 4+ years of professional procurement experience.

Skills

  • Requires hands-on knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures. Preferably in parts and components utilized in the construction and fabrication of high-voltage Infrastructure and associated control panels/equipment.
  • Knowledge of specifications and practices for high voltage construction and financial acumen will be of benefit,
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Proficient communicator who can present well and influence others when appropriate.
  • Able to understand work-based problems and analyze them to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Capable planner who can organize the resources at his/her disposal to achieve the best results.
  • Able to manage time and workload efficiently.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety practices and procedures in a safety focused workplace.

Duties

  • Analyze purchase requisitions to ensure clarity and completeness in the description of materials and equipment, quantity and quality, delivery requirements, mode of transportation, and proper support documentation.
  • Maintain the list of qualified vendors, that were approved by the procurement department.
  • Prepare and issue request for quotation (RFQ) to qualified bidders.
  • Negotiate the best price, delivery, and purchase order terms & conditions.
  • Manage critical material orders with oversight from Material Management.
  • Collaborate with the Material department on the upcoming materials needs.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner.
  • Help coordinate technical review of paperwork with the projects team. Issue or assist in issuing purchase orders after securing required approvals.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and the highest ethical standards of IPS.
