Job Description - Senior Accounting Clerk

As the Senior Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions ranging from simple to moderately complex. There is particular emphasis is placed on completing responsibilities within rigid time constraints.

  • Prepare reconciliation of various general ledger accounts, bank deposits, online payments, and broker transactions. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain complex spread sheets containing formulas for tracking and balancing of data.
  • Prepare various daily, monthly, quarterly and adhoc reports including financial statements, cash flow reporting and yearend working papers.
  • Maintain retention of reports and analysis documents for immediate and/or future use.
  • Process trade transactions from the Department of Finance and Royal Bank Investor.
  • Enter financial adjustments and processes journal entries to account for financial transactions.
  • Conduct various balancing activities between corporate systems.
  • Process daily, weekly and monthly payment cycles.
  • Complete and/or provide assistance in the testing for new releases and/or upgrades for Lawson, CARS and BI 3 . This includes running cycles and interfaces, balancing results, and resolving any issues in conjunction with IT, CARS Support and BI 3
  • Act as a back up to other positions within the department.
  • 8 University Courses with a minimum of 6 in Accounting and Business.

OR

  • 10 Community College courses with a minimum of 8 in Accounting and Business.

OR

  • Completion of the CPA’s Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF).

OR

  • Completion of 3 rd level of a legacy accounting program (CGA/CMA).

AND

  • Three years of experience in a related area.
