Our Team:

Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.

The Claims Dept is responsible for supporting Vale's Canadian Operations. The Claims team interacts with site management, service providers, occupational health, injured workers, compensation boards, union representatives as it relates to workplace injuries, short-term and long-term disability as well as the ADI program. We are responsible for ensuring that Vale meets their legislative reporting requirements for occupational injuries/illness. The team also represents the Company in the various levels of appeals.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Administrative Co-Op Student to join our Claims Team located in Sudbury at the NAOC building . This is a fixed term position.

As an Administrative Co-Op Student, you will support the Claims team in a variety of administrative functions related to Claims management. Your experience and skills will provide day to day support to the team. Additionally, in this position you will:

• Maintain databases related to the Claims Dept
• Administrative support such as:
  • Employment reconciliations,
  • Daily reports
  • Filing,
  • Processing mail
  • Completion of absence notification forms
• Update procedures and forms.
• Other administrative duties as assigned.

About You

Education:

• Post Secondary Education in such areas as Human Resources/Disability Management or the Medical Field

Experience:

• Previous co-op experience is considered to be an asset.

Skills:

• Knowledge and experience with computer applications specifically MS Word/Excel/Teams/Outlook
• Excellent organizational skills
• Detailed oriented.
• Good communication skills
• Must be able to handle confidential sensitive information

Preferred

• Understanding related to WSIB/Disability Management
