Your Opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Registration Switchboard and Patient Information, this position performs a variety of administrative support duties including interviewing clients/patients to perform positive patient identification; obtaining accurate demographic and financial information; and entering information in the Clinical Information System (CIS)/Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) system to complete registrations and admissions. The position serves as an initial point of contact for persons seeking treatment at, or admission to, a hospital/health care facility through any of the Main Registration, Emergency, Urgent Care or satellite ambulatory registration areas supported by Health Information Management (HIM). The position collects facility fees for uninsured and out of country patients receiving services. As the initial point of contact for persons seeking services, this position presents a welcoming, helpful and positive image of Alberta Health Services (AHS) and HIM both on the telephone and in person. This position may also provide training and mentoring to new hires and existing staff on policies, procedures, standards and workflow processes. Other duties may include answering telephones, greeting the public, and directing individuals accordingly. In some sites (particularly rural and community sites), this position will also perform Switchboard duties. This position shall maintain confidentiality of all AHS patient information in accordance with the Health Information Act (HIA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPP) and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with the AHS Information Privacy and Information Security policies

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Additional Required Qualifications: Medical Terminology, Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk Specialty and/or post-secondary education applicable to the position. (Testing will be performed.) Typing speed of 40 wpm (Testing will be performed.)
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to remain calm, patient, courteous and sensitive to all situations. Experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, dual monitors.
