Job Title: Business Data Analyst

Location: HYBRID: Work-From-Home / 1031 Bank St, Ottawa, ON

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Business Data Analyst with a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to help facilitate drive data-driven decision-making within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for uncovering actionable insights from data. They possess a keen analytical mindset, a knack for problem-solving, and a passion for transforming data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities include gathering and processing data from various sources while ensuring its accuracy and integrity. Experience in data visualization tools like PowerBI is essential. From scheduled reports to ad hoc presentations, findings are communicated effectively to stakeholders, with approaches tailored to meet their specific needs.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, involving understanding their business requirements and translating them into actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Processing:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex datasets to uncover actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • Gather and process data from various sources while ensuring accuracy and integrity.

Data Analysis:

  • Utilize data visualization tools such as PowerBI to conduct in-depth analyses, identify trends, patterns, and outliers.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and outliers.
  • Perform statistical analyses to derive meaningful insights.

Reporting and Visualization:

  • Create clear and concise scheduled reports and dashboards using tools like PowerBI to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Generate ad hoc reports in response to specific inquiries or emerging business needs.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to present complex information in a visually appealing and understandable manner.

Business Requirements:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Assist in creating Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) by providing insights and recommendations.

Presentation Creation:

  • Develop presentations to summarize key findings, insights, and recommendations derived from data analysis.
  • Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to tailor presentations to specific audience needs and preferences.

Project Management:

  • Utilize project management software such as Monday.com to track and manage tasks, timelines, and resources for data analysis projects.
  • Coordinate with team members and stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are of high quality.

Tool Proficiency:

  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Use MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, for data analysis, visualization, and presentation.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct regular audits of datasets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues to maintain a high standard of data integrity. Continuous Improvement:

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to existing processes and methodologies.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years as a Data Analyst or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing impactful analyses.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI.
  • Experience using machine learning algorithms is considered an asset.
  • Data Visualization Skills: Proven capability in creating effective and insightful data visualizations, utilizing various tools and techniques.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Strong ability to analyze complicated data, identify trends, and use insights to solve business problems.

Compensation

  • Salary: $60,000 - $65,000
  • 5% Annual Performance Bonus
