Job Description
Our client, a forward-thinking, collaborative, and caring organization based in Ottawa is currently seeking a Category Manager to join their dynamic Procurement team on a full-time, regular basis. This role is vital for strategically sourcing goods and services and managing key vendor relationships to support our operations.

The Procurement team is essential in managing agreements and sourcing materials crucial for efficient operations. This position provides an opportunity to make a significant impact through strategic sourcing for assigned commodities or client groups.

What We Offer:

• Start Date: Immediate
• Employment Type: Regular Full-Time
• Salary: $85,000 – $106,000 per year
• Benefits:

What You Will Do :

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for key commodities, working closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs.
• Lead the competitive sourcing process including developing specifications for RFPs and RFQs to ensure optimal outcomes and value.
• Manage supplier negotiations and maintain long-term partnerships with key vendors, enhancing value and efficiency.
• Monitor contracts to ensure they meet our short- and long-term operational needs.
• Participate in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and manage top tier strategic suppliers critical to long-term sourcing strategies.
• Utilize strong analytical skills to manage and reduce supply risks, participate in the Business Essential Suppliers (BES) program.

Who You Are:

• Education: Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, or a related discipline.
• Certification: Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation is an asset.
• Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in procurement and strategic sourcing.
• Skills:
  • Expertise in complex procurement negotiations.
  • Proficient in developing competitive sourcing documents.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting, total cost of ownership, and spend analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulated industry standards and ISO 9000, TQM, cGMP, or equivalent.
  • Experienced with SAP Ariba (Contracts & Sourcing modules).
• Attributes: Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to lead cross-functional teams, exceptional customer service orientation, and a continuous growth mindset.
