Job Description - Chief Operating Officer

Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Our Client is a dynamic and entrepreneurial ICT company dedicated to providing innovative solutions, as well as serving the communication needs of mid-enterprise-sized customers. Our customer-centric approach and commitment to excellence have positioned us as a trusted partner in the ICT sector. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive team. Reporting to the President, the ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who is decisive yet collaborative, a tough but fair negotiator, and equally analytical and intuitive. This individual will be fearless in making tough decisions, yet heartful in their approach, and will have a keen eye for detail while maintaining big picture clarity. The COO will be results-oriented and bring high energy to drive our company’s growth and success.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all departments.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, foster and inspire high-performing teams, including Sales, Pre-Sales, Marketing, Technical Service, Customer Service, Implementation, as well as both Retail and Senior Living divisions, while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and optimize resources, including budgeting, financial planning, and cost control.
  • Drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction through the development and implementation of processes, systems, and best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives and growth plans.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to assess operational effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead negotiations with partners, vendors, and other external parties, ensuring favorable terms and outcomes.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all aspects of the company with a solid understanding and familiarity with the services, products and technologies used by Unity and its customers.
  • Develop, direct and mentor managers of Unity’s Installation, Service, Major Accounts and Senior Living teams, ensuring all aspects of their departments are continuously evaluated for efficient operation and are aligned with the company’s direction.
  • Provide direction, leadership, and support with team’s performance plans.
  • Work closely with the CFO to develop annual budgets.
  • Liaise with team members, other departments, vendors and customers to ensure projects are completed to a high standard.
  • Being transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.
  • Deliver presentations to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify deficiencies and problems, and actively devise appropriate innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments, with high level of autonomy and accountability for results.
Qualifications:
•             Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role within the ICT industry.
•             Experience in the senior living industry, is preferred.
•             Experience with UC, CC, SaaS is an asset.
•             Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective operational strategies.
•             Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
•             Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
•             Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
•             Hands-on leadership style with a focus on collaboration and team development.
•             Exceptional negotiation skills, with a reputation for being tough but fair.
•             High level of energy and a results-oriented mindset.
•             Ability to balance detail-oriented tasks with big picture thinking.
•             Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial performance.
