Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Contract Specialist

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The  Contract Specialist is accountable for supporting key aspects of the contract management lifecycle including development, compliance, maintenance, and change. 

Supports the Contracts & Commercial function in ensuring ISI fulfills its contractual obligations through tracking and maintaining all Contract documentation including Contract Amendments, Task Authorizations, Long Lead Item Authorization Forms and Contract Change Proposals.  Works with internal stakeholders to demonstrate compliance to contractual requirements.  Interface with the Customer on matters related to execution of the Contract.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline (e.g. Business, Law, Engineering) or equivalent years of professional experience
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in contracts management and contracts administration
  • Professional knowledge of complex contracting, preferably construction or manufacturing environments or Defence industry
  • Familiarity with the shipbuilding industry and defense/government contracts considered an asset
  • Experience with IBM Rational DOORS would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Information Management and Data Management
  • Experience writing technical requirements would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate Business & Commercial Acumen
  • Ability to administer complex requirements in a fast-paced work environment

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of contract management processes
  • Assist with developing presentation material for stakeholder feedback and alignment
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for contract change proposal process
  • Prepare Contract Change Proposals (CCPs) and Subcontractor’s Change Order Proposals (COPs) where applicable, including the development and review through to the Contract Change Board with final approval from the customer
  • Draft Task Amendments, Contract amendments, and Agreements in Principle and finalize execution with Customer
  • Track and monitor Contract value, Task value and change impacts
  • Collaborate with the Customer on requesting and obtaining approvals as required under the applicable Prime Contract
  • Prepare inputs to Monthly Progress Reports and Progress Review Meetings
  • Maintain a commercial action log with the customer
  • Develop and maintain key working relations with the customer
