Position Overview / Summary
The Controller is responsible for leading aspects of the finance and accounting function for FlexiForce North America. The role ensures adherence to the policies and practices defined in the ASSA ABLOY Reporting Manual, GAAP and provides reliable, in depth financial planning and analysis support to the management team.Key Responsibilities
The Controller will be accountable for:
Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of the Finance department
Corporate Accounting and related reporting requirements.
Operational accounting functions including analysis and variance investigation.
Accounting in both foreign and domestic currency and conversion to $CDN for reporting purposes.
Tracking and optimizing FX gain or loss for CAD/USD conversions.
Consolidated reporting
Supporting internal and external audit functions as necessary.
Supervising and managing the performance of related administrative functions and staff including payroll, A/P, A/R, reception and general admin staff.
Working with the financial staff to continually improve and streamline the accounting and reporting functions through the use of software and data management tools.
Supporting company initiatives and culture.
Be a culture champion and lead by example to encourage a culture of collaboration, team work and accountability
Prepare monthly financial information and variance analysis to budget and preparation of monthly reports for the Leadership team.
Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
In conjunction with the Director of Finance, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis
Qualifications
Degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
Proven experience leading and mentoring an administrative finance team
Experience with corporate banking, financial reporting, covenants and cash flow monitoring and reporting
Experience with creating financial statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Excellent proficiency with Excel and ERP software tools
Ability to identify and manage risk and bring issues to the Leadership table with solutions on how to mitigate cost and risk
Strong understanding of Canadian tax laws and some familiarity with US tax and trade laws.

Role Requirements
Location: Abbotsford, BC
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
On-site requirements for this position. Some hybrid flexibility may be granted after probationary period and as described in internal policies. Subject to Manager approval.
Travel
Occasional travel including to international destinations will be required.
