Contribute your strategic leadership to Alberta’s deputy minister team.

Deputy Ministers serve as bridges between the governing and administrative functions of government, translating government priorities into public service outcomes and actions. They lead across department boundaries to ensure that government policy and strategic priorities are aligned and addressed from a holistic, systems-wide perspective. Together they create an integrated, inclusive, engaged, and citizen-centered public service.

We are currently recruiting to the Deputy Minister position in Alberta Technology and Innovation. The ministry strives to deliver innovative services to government operations and optimize programs and services for Albertans. We play an integral role in government operations with responsibilities for information technology, information management policy and standards, financial operations, and procurement. The ministry helps position Alberta as an internationally recognized technology and innovation hub that attracts talent, business and job-creating investment from across Canada and around the world. This will diversify Alberta’s economy, increase productivity and create a more resilient economic future for all Albertans.

Role
As an active member of Deputy Ministers’ Council, a key focus of your role is a shared accountability for delivering on government mandates. Through leadership and collaboration with your department executive team, partners and other stakeholders, you will oversee programs and services that provide innovative and high-quality information technology and information management solutions that support and improve technology for Albertans and attract talent, business and job-creating technology investment. You will articulate a vision for the successful achievement of outcomes in the ministry’s core business areas.

Qualifications
An influential and highly credible leader, your career reflects extensive and varied executive management experience. You bring strengths in leading complex program operations and policy development and are recognized for your ability to influence innovative outcomes. A strategic collaborator, your background demonstrates fluency in stakeholder relations and a commitment to promoting a partnering culture to advance work on complex issues in dynamic environments. Your reputation for leading change, empowering teams, and building capacity in challenging fiscal environments will support your success. An understanding of government operations and experience with accountability for significant financial management are assets. A related degree is an asset.
