Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director Human Resources, HSC, the incumbent works independently and takes leadership in planning, organizing, coordinating and promoting and facilitating Events sponsored by Shared Health. The incumbent will be consulting directly with Leadership and advisory committees as appropriate.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a professional planning and coordination capacity with demonstrated leadership, organizational, administrative, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Operate with significant level of independence.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in event planning and coordination and proven ability to support the priorities of Executive management and to work effectively with volunteer colleagues in a team environment.
  • Experience in healthcare an asset.
  • Experience in scheduling and coordinating meetings.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Administrative Assistant/Secretarial Training Program required.
  • Courses in events planning preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook/Calendar, Power Point and Publisher).
  • Working knowledge of the internet and web-based applications required.
  • Basic accounting skills required.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Macromedia Contribute.
  • Typing speed 65 wpm.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of electronic file management and of file systems development and maintenance required.
  • Must be able to set up and operate audio-visual equipment.
  • Exhibits a high degree of organization, attention to details and level of professional conduct when communicating with executive, management, clients, patients and vendors.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity, initiative, and strong problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently, initiate, plan and manage projects, meetings and complete a variety of administrative duties with a focus on details, prioritization and meeting deadlines is required
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, professionalism and demonstrate excellent public relations and interpersonal skills at all times.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively contribute to a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to lift and move boxes, arranging tables and chairs, and the transport of materials (display materials and boards, print materials, audio visual equipment) to and from various locations throughout Winnipeg and external sites.
  • Physical mobility and the capacity to lift and move materials are required.
