Job Description - Finance Manager

RYGIEL Supports for Community Living is currently recruiting for a full-time Finance Manager. Mission Impact & Role Summary: Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Finance Manager demonstrates responsibility and enhances the dignity and quality of life of the citizens we support, caregivers, visitors and staff by being accountable for the accounting functions, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, to ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements. Responsibility, Availability, Hospitality, Adaptability, Quality and Dignity is aided by ensuring the accurate, efficient and timely reporting and processing of financial activities for two separate financial entities (services/supports and housing) within approved system and organizational controls in compliance with internal and external audit requirements. Through responsible leadership and effective role modelling, the Finance Manager is responsible for demonstrating the Mission, Vision and Values at work within the finance department and Rygiel Supports for Community Living. The Manager will be responsible for monthly financial reporting and the timely and accurate submission of all regulatory and statutory requirements. They will ensure that the organization has systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and provide strong internal control over financial reporting. The Manager supports the leadership and management team by providing accurate and timely internal reporting and analysis on operational and financial performance and facilitates long-term planning and budgeting processes. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Financial planning, analysis and reporting including budget preparation, forecasting, and program performance analysis
  • Oversight of accounting functions and systems
  • Help lead the annual budgeting process by working with the management team and advising on matters related to the budgets, financial statements and financial information
  • Assist the external auditors with the year-end audit process and support the completion of annual expenditure reports
  • Participate in meetings where financial support or advice is needed
  • Continuous improvement including implementing/adapting to new technologies to replace manual / outdated systems
  • Assist in the innovation and development of cost savings and revenue generation for improved organizational sustainability and advancement
Skill, Nature and Scope of Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Responsibility, Availability, Hospitality, Adaptability, Quality and Dignity
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast paced and changing work environment, using technology to advance systems and procedures
  • Post-secondary degree in business/commerce, finance, accounting or equivalent
  • CPA designation preferred, or equivalent
  • 6-8 years work experience, preferred within non-profit organization finances and accounting
  • Experience in a management capacity or senior financial role
  • Demonstrated proficiency with financial and accounting software, MS Office 365, Payroll providers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
  • Provide a current and original negative Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check prior to employment
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required
