PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The HR Coordinator will provide essential support to the Human Resources team with a focus on Compensation. The position will be responsible for conducting Job Evaluation for both our union and non-union positions, to ensure that jobs are evaluated in a timely and consistent manner. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, and possess strong analytical skills, with a passion for contributing to the development and maintenance of a fair, relative, competitive, and sustainable Compensation Framework, while supporting the HR programs and initiatives. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Compensation and Benefits Specialist in conducting job evaluations and job classifications for both union and non-union positions, ensuring that jobs are evaluated in a timely accurate and consistent manner.
  • Attend meetings to review new or revised positions in consultation with the Compensation and Benefits Specialist and management.
  • Support internal and external compensation benchmarking.
  • Keep abreast of trends and assist in updating compensation policies and procedures with respect to JE, salary administration, compensation analysis and pay equity.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to job evaluations and compensation structures.
  • Provide HR generalist support to the HR team to assist with various HR initiatives, projects, and general HR operations.
Note: Above duties are representative of a typical position and are not to be construed as all-inclusive. EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Certified Human Resources Practitioner (CHRP) designations.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in human resources, with experience conducting job evaluations.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of job evaluation methodologies, job classification systems, and compensation principles.
  • Understanding of relevant employment legislation e.g. Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity, AODA, MFIPPA and Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Experience using Human Resource Information Systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task on concurrent projects with competing priorities.
  • Deductive Reasoning or Data Analysis.
  • Discretion and tact when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a multi -union environment.
  • Experience in organizational structure and design reviews.
  • Experience in municipal government.
  • Experience in managing project work of different scope and significance.
