Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Clinical Change Lead, Emergency Response Services. The Policy Writer is responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders to review, develop, and revise policies and/or procedures related to emergency response services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. The incumbent must possess strong writing skills, a deep understanding of EMS operations, and a commitment to promoting high-quality patient care and safety.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in policy writing/development and research an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, public health, public administration, healthcare administration or a degree/diploma in a relevant health discipline required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent research skills, including the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and apply it to policy development.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision in policy writing and documentation.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft programing including; PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Demonstrated mid-senior leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Relevant professional regulatory requirements.
    • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act.
    • Manitoba Emergency Medical Response and Stretcher Transportation Act.
    • Manitoba Highway Traffic Act.
    • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA).
    • The Health System Governance and Accountability Act.
    • Other applicable legislated acts.
    • Shared Health clinical protocols, care maps and associated documents.
    • Other applicable Shared Health policies, procedures, guidelines and directives.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.

 

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
