Job title- Chief Operating Engineer (CAD) Work Location: Windsor- Ontario-CAN Shift Mon-Fri, 7:00AM – 3:30PM with 30-minute unpaid lunch. About the Position The Chief Operating Engineer position comprises three main components: a keen focus on personnel and operations safety, team management, and operational excellence. In this position, you will apply your experience and expertise to supervise production processes and equipment, solve production problems, and provide recommendations to process improvements. Involvement might include sizing equipment, identifying equipment capacity requirements, developing process control systems, growing efficiencies of the process, etc. You will be involved with the installation of new equipment and modification of existing equipment, along with all the inherent training and start-up issues that must be addressed. This will all be conjoined with leading a team to ensure the efficient daily operations of the facility. Duties and Responsibilities Participate in safety activities, drive the safety culture within the departments, and ensure employees are compliant and knowledgeable of safe work practices. Management of a 9 MW CHP (2x natural gas combustion turbines with attached heat recovery steam generators). Implementation of strong standard operating procedures for CHP. Manage the maintenance staff and maintenance contractors and set the priorities of maintenance activities. Promote a high standard for the safe operating condition of equipment and strive for continuous improvement of operational efficiency of all boilers and machinery. Continue the integration of a strong preventative maintenance program. Communicate to management and peers, ensure policies are enforced, maintain an orderly workplace, train team members, develop training programs, and implement Management of Change. Manage power engineering staff, including hiring, and training, and ensuring shifts are covered with qualified operators. Ensure compliance with regulations in operations and reporting. Communicate with TSSA on any regulatory issues and/or regulated systems. Required Skills and Qualifications Experience operating/managing natural gas-combustion turbines and heat recovery steam generators. Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude. Strong oral and written communication skills. Computer skills required. Solid understanding of food safety is an asset. Education or Work Experience Must possess an Ontario or Interprovincial 1st Class Power Engineer certificate. Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory role leading and managing a team. Additional Information Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation. Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) requirements.
