About Our Opportunity


Reporting to the Executive Director, Benefit Programs, the Project Executive works with senior leaders across the department and the health care system to provide leadership in the design, strategic planning, implementation, integration and evaluation of publicly funded pharmacy-based primary care services within the health care system. 

 

Primary Accountabilities


Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Provides strategic leadership and drives innovation to advance initiatives that optimize the integration of community pharmacy practice in the broader primary care health system and to advance the goals of Action for Health
  • Establishes frameworks based on evidence and best practice, and collaboration with partners, to guide recommendations and decisions about government investment in community pharmacy and primary health care
  • Provides strategic input, oversight and evaluation support for innovative practices such as pharmacy primary care clinics and other demonstration projects
  • Maintains close working relationship with other branches of DHW including Public Health, System Integration, Primary Care, Physician Services, Office of Health Professional Recruitment, and Nova Scotia Health to ensure alignment and integration across system planning and priorities
  • Develops policies, monitoring and evaluation strategies related to pharmacy services and the Pharmacy Services Agreement
  • Maintains effective and positive working relationships with external stakeholders including Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists, Dalhousie School of Pharmacy, and other organizations
  • Responsible for budget oversight and forecasting for pharmacy services and other related investments 
  • Provides direction and oversight to staff and Pharmacare program administrator to support analytics and successful implementation of insured services and audit practices

 

Qualifications and Experience


Bachelors or Masters degree in a related field and several years of health system leadership experience. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in innovation and in moving forward complex and significant pieces of work for their organization. Candidates must have project management skills and an action-oriented approach.  Experience building partnerships and working with internal and external stakeholders and senior leaders will be required. As a dynamic leader, the successful candidate must possess the ability to lead change, move forward new initiatives and overcome ongoing challenges. Must have significant experience in the health care system in Canada and appreciation of the vision of the health care system in Nova Scotia.  Excellent strategic thinking, interpersonal, diplomacy, communication, and organizational and team building skills. Working Conditions

 

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day

Pay Grade: EC 14 

Salary Range:  $4,461.45 - $5,576.81 Bi-Weekly
