Job Description - Project Manager, Audit

Effective April 1, 2024, the salary range for this position is $88,496 to $128,625 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined. If so, consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Education where you will plan and implement school board enrolment and various other audits within Ontario. The Ministry of Education is seeking a project manager to assist the accountability units in ensuring compliance with various legislation and regulations and making a meaningful impact to drive educational excellence, innovation, and equity in our province. About the Financial Analysis & Accountability Branch: The Financial Analysis and Accountability Branch (FAAB) is responsible for large-scale grant administration to school boards, financial policy and analysis, and the consolidation of results into provincial financial statements and public accounts. The Financial Accountability Units within the branch provide advice and assistance on financial matters related to school boards which include:
• managing the administration and accountability of the school boards operating grants.
• conducting compliance audits.
• monitoring school boards' financial health, and recommending proactive actions to ensure ongoing financial stability.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• lead the development, implementation and evaluation of audit programs
• provide technical guidance, advice and direction to audit staff
• lead the development of auditing policies, procedures, best practices and performance measurement tools
• lead projects to reform audit and risk management practices
• build collaborative partnerships with industry clients
• provide technical guidance and recommendations to senior management

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirement:

• In order to conduct on-site audits, the successful candidate must have the ability to travel to locations not accessible via public transportation.

Technical knowledge and experience:

• You have demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles, practices and methodologies.
• You have experience leading the development and implementation of strategic audit frameworks.

Project leadership skills:

• You have leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and direction to project staff.
• You have experience leading the planning and organizing all aspects of complex audit programs.

Analytical skills:

• You have analytical skills to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management and audit control strategies as well as their impact on the school board sector.

Communication and relationship management skills:

• You have oral communication and consultation skills to provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.
• You have relationship management skills to build collaborative partnerships with industry clients, project teams and ministry colleagues.
• You have written communication and computer skills to develop a variety of documents (e.g. briefing notes, work plans, presentation materials).
