The Authorizations and Compliance Division is responsible for the administration and management of regulatory programs and activities as well as responding to inquiries and concerns from the public related to departmental programs and environmental emergencies. The division consists of the Authorizations Branch, Regional Operations and Compliance Branch, Waste Diversion Branch and the Source and Surface Water Management Branch.
Department of Environment and Local Government provides integrated stewardship through planning and management of land use, zoning development and waste management issues. It ensures effective enforcement of, and compliance with, environmental legislation and regulations and provides effective consultation and liaison with municipal governments and Local Service Districts (LSD) on governance issues.
What you will do?
As a member of the Regional Operations and Compliance team, and reporting to a Regional Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a variety of inspection and reporting tasks with respect to the Acts and Regulations administered by the Department. Conducting scheduled and unscheduled inspections to observe and report on public complaints, reports of noncompliance, and the effectiveness of pollution control measures; examining equipment, processes and records; obtaining measurements, photographs, samples of soil, water, and air in response to various programs, reports, or investigative requirements; responding to petroleum or chemical spills and implementing remedial measures; liaising with land owners, business owners, industrial representatives, or technical/professional contacts. Additional duties will also include, serving on the regional and provincial emergency response system, on a rotating basis. The successful candidates will be called upon to use sound judgement in the interpretation of legislation and administration of regulations, and to demonstrate leadership abilities and composure during environmental emergencies.

Operational Requirements
Travel throughout the province can be anticipated.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Engineering and Field Level VI: $2,126 to $2,671 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
Engineering and Field Level V: $1,935 to $2,434 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
Engineering and Field Level IV: $1,763 to $2,211 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
Engineering and Field Level III: $1,622 to $2,036 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
Engineering and Field Level II: $1,487 to $1,869 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
Engineering and Field Level I: $1,348 to $1,713 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
