Job Description - Investment Associate

Markdale Financial Management is searching for a full-time Investment Associateto join our team. As an Investment Associate, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with wealthy investors at our family office. This position is most suitable for a recent graduate from an Ontario University pursuing a career in wealth management as a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) and someone who loves investing.

Your Qualifications

  • familiar with Quickbooks Online or other bookkeeping software
  • comfortable learning WordPress
  • experience using Canva
  • CFA candidates preferred
  • location: remote with occasional GTA in-person meetings
  • must be interested in finance/blockchains/marketing

We’re a multi-family office serving three wealthy families with over $600 million of AUA. As a personal CFO, we provide a range of services including documentation, bookkeeping, reporting, and tax preparation. We work with a variety of professionals including accountants, investment managers, lawyers, and private bankers. We also provide extensive support for philanthropists including charitable gift planning and private (family) foundation management.

We’re a small team, so successful candidates will gain direct experience seeing how wealthy investors manage their finances. This will also give successful candidates hands-on experience working in a variety of roles that will help determine future career opportunities.

Job Description

Document Management (Google Drive): Organize and maintain digital files and documents using Google Drive, ensuring accessibility and efficiency for our team.

Bookkeeping (Quickbooks Online): Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks such as data entry and reconciliation using Quickbooks Online.

Reporting (Addepar): Support the generation of consolidated financial reports utilizing Addepar to track and analyze client portfolios.

Ad-Hoc Reporting (Excel): Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed, leveraging Excel to manipulate and present data effectively.

Presentation Preparation (Canva): Collaborate with team members to create visually appealing presentations using Canva, conveying key information and insights to clients and stakeholders.

Account Applications, Transfer Forms, etc.: Facilitate administrative processes such as account applications and transfer forms using Adobe Acrobat and Docusign, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Document Business Process (Github): Our client’s wealth management process is documented so that future generations can build on their success. We also use Github for project management and internal process documentation.

Newsletters (Mailchimp): Assist in the creation and distribution of engaging newsletters to clients and prospects using Mailchimp, highlighting updates, insights, and events.

Social Media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube): Support our social media presence across platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, by curating content, engaging with followers, and fostering community.

Lead Generation (Google Forms): Manage lead generation efforts through Google Forms, capturing valuable information to nurture potential client relationships.

Website Management (WordPress): Contribute to the maintenance and SEO optimization of our website using WordPress and Google Analytics.

Marketing Initiatives: Assist in executing marketing initiatives such as eWebinars, seminars, and scheduling, to promote our services and attract new clients.

Part of the Investment Associate role is about providing exceptional client service through tasks such as documentation, bookkeeping, and reporting. Other parts of the role focuses on driving the growth of our business through strategic marketing efforts.

This is primarily a full-time remote position, with communication facilitated through Zoom and email. However, candidates located within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are preferred, as occasional in-person team meetings are held.

Compensation range for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000 per year depending on experience level.
