Hays has partnered with a local design focused firm, with offices in Calgary and Vancouver, who are looking for a Senior Architect. They are an integrated collective of experts who specialize in research, architecture, interiors, graphics, art, and furniture. They are known for creating beautiful, high-end, and one-of-a-kind spaces for clients across a wide variety of industries. Their approach to each project is unique and holistic, uncovering problems through assessment, research, and collaboration, and then solving them through innovative design. They have a deep expertise in the retail, hospitality, residential, and commercial office sectors. Your new roleIn your role, you will be reporting directly into the Director of Architecture. As the Senior Architect, you will lead projects through all design and construction phases, ensuring quality and mentoring the team. Your duties and responsibilities will include: leading and managing the design process from conception to completion of projects, collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to ensure project goals are met. Create designs, drawings, and plans for projects, resolve complex design and technical issues. Review and approve project materials, finishes, and equipment. Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and zoning laws, and undertake site reviews and construction administration. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and manage the project team to produce successful design and construction documentation. Attend client meetings and presentations.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have a recognized degree in architecture coupled with 10+ years of post graduate experience in an Architecture office in a variety of project types (retail, hospitality, residential, and commercial office), with a developed understanding of all aspects of the industry. You must be registered or eligible to be registered with the AAA, AIBC registration is an asset but not a must. You will be proficient with the following platforms: Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe & Sketch-Up. You will have excellent critical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to manage conflict, negotiate and provide leadership to Junior and Intermediate staff. You will possess strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and be able to work under pressure.
What you'll get in return
The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package of $95K-$115K base (based on experience) + benefits and RRSP.
