Our Engineering Design Organization is looking for a proactive go-getter with a can-do attitude who thrives on working collaboratively with various teams in an agile and fast-paced environment. As our Traffic Signals & Illumination Senior Contract Administrator & Inspector working out one of our GTA offices you will play an instrumental role on the Electrical team, leading the construction phases of our projects involving traffic signals systems, street lighting, and power distribution systems.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Delivering projects involving traffic signalization and street lighting systems, with a possibility of expanding into underground/overhead electrical distribution systems
  • Contributing to the financial monitoring and reporting of our consulting services contract, including invoicing, budget tracking, progress reporting, and change management
  • Adhering to and advocating for health and safety protocols
  • Maintaining and developing inspection protocols, documentation, and checklists
  • Serving as primary project contact and maintaining a strong client relationship
  • Coordination and liaison with contractors, approving authorities, and various utility companies.
  • Preparing detailed specifications and schedules of quantities, construction cost estimates, and bid analyses.
  • Reviewing shop drawings
  • Performing construction inspections to verify contractor's compliance with approved designs and specifications.
  • Witnessing equipment and material testing and participating in the commissioning and activation stages
  • Conducting field investigations and condition assessments
  • Providing recommendations on resolution to issues arising during construction and coordinating with the internal design team on technical matters
  • Reviewing and processing of contractor's payment requests
  • Negotiating change orders on behalf of the client
  • Processing and maintaining document control of project correspondence, documents, and drawings.
  • Providing input concerning constructability reviews of proposed designs
  • Mentoring of junior inspectors

What you will bring to the team:

  • College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Certified IMSA Traffic Signals Inspector
  • Master Electrician license
  • Extensive experience with commissioning and testing of traffic signal systems - minimum 15 years
  • Thorough knowledge of industry standards and design guidelines, including Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Guidelines for Understanding, Use and Implementation of Accessible Pedestrian Signals, Ontario Traffic Manual OTM Book 7, 12, 12A and 15, IESNA RP-8 Lighting Roadway and Parking Facilities, TAC Guide for the Design of Roadway Lighting, Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work on multiple projects.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • G class driver's license
