The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Employee Experience, the Talent Management Program Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of various HR Talent Management programs to foster a diverse and inclusive workforce at SAIT, while ensuring that talent management programs and initiatives are consistently embedded across the organization This position is essential in ensuring a well-functioning and harmonious work environment that promotes employee growth and engagement. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and results-driven, experienced in collaborating with HR teams, management, and employees to facilitate the successful implementation of HR initiatives

The Role

  • Lead the redesign, implementation and support of SAIT’s performance management program and ensure efficient and effective execution across all employee groups.
  • Audit of performance management plans and provide individualized coaching to managers.
  • Identify and implement processes and auditing tools to ensure new hires and existing employees have the appropriate competencies for their roles.
  • Design development planning guidance and approach to help translate capability gaps to development outcomes.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders in all phases of talent programs.
  • In collaboration with organizational leaders, design and manage employee surveys, including lifecycle surveys and the employee engagement survey. Use survey tools to help monitor the employee experience, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage employee Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
  • Develop and implement programs to foster success and advancement of employees at SAIT.
  • Recommend changes to HR related policies, procedures, and practices to support equity deserving groups.
  • Provide strategic guidance to and find creative ways of empowering the six employee and student resource groups on campus.
  • Champion EDI across the campus by acting as a liaison who builds strong relationships and effectively shares information to empower others.
  • Participate in SAIT’s institutional EDI Advisory Council and other cross-function committees as required.
  • Oversee and continue the development of team effectiveness supports, and support leaders in creating more effective teams.
  • Oversee the succession planning and talent review process across the institution, providing analytics and insights to support strategic decisions.
  • Analyze succession planning results to identify strengths and areas of risk, offering data-driven recommendations for talent development and mobility.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to blend learning opportunities with SAIT’s talent strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education
  • Post-secondary Degree in a related field (HR, business)
  • Additional education and courses related to EDI are an asset.

  • Certification
  • CPHR Certification or other related designation is preferred.

  • Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Human Resources Talent Management role
  • Experience in a post-secondary institute or within a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Experience in EDI related role is preferred.

  • Skills Required
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence across all levels of the organization and build relationships with senior level managers.
  • Ability to collaborate within the department and other stakeholders across the organization, to support institutional goals and cross-function projects.
  • Ability to research and develop strategies, incorporating innovative ideas and best practices.
  • Proven skills in program planning and project management
  • Knowledge of program design processes, governance approval process for programs, writing and submitting the motions and government approval documents
  • Experience designing and executing practical talent management processes and programs.
  • Utilizes strategic and systems thinking to tailor and execute initiatives effectively.
  • A growth mindset and an innovative approach to challenges
  • Resourceful in navigating obstacles
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities, adept at balancing competing priorities
Salary range: $72,152 - $102,678 Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year Hours per week: 37.5 Posting closing date: April 25, 2024
