Job Description - Traffic Engineer/ Technologist

Your opportunity Dillon’s Planning & Design group is looking for a Traffic Engineer / Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available at any of our following offices: Ottawa, Toronto, Oakville, Hamilton, Kitchener, Guelph and Vaughan. Responsibilities What your day will look like Technical Activities & Administration
  • Lead a variety of transportation/traffic planning and design projects involving traffic analysis, parking reviews, road safety audits, signage and pavement marking reviews, neighbourhood traffic management, and transportation demand management
  • Support Dillon’s leading technical staff in project delivery for a variety of public and private sector clients
  • Provide technical expertise on a variety of projects as part of multidisciplinary teams (including planners, project engineers, environmental scientists, technologists)
  • Contribute to proposals and support other marketing and administrative efforts

  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications
  • A degree in civil engineering or urban planning, or a diploma in civil engineering technology, with a transportation focus
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience
  • Qualified to practise in Ontario as a Professional Engineer, Registered Professional Planner or Certified Engineering Technologist, or eligible to be qualified within six months
Experience The appropriate candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong interest and knowledge in some, or all, of the following areas:
  • Transportation impact studies
  • Parking studies
  • Road safety studies
  • Traffic calming studies
  • Warrant analysis for traffic control devices
  • Working knowledge of intersection performance software: Synchro, SIDRA
  • Active transportation and transportation demand management (TDM) programs
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD.
  • Well-developed report writing, organization and interpersonal skills.
