Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the full-time permanent position of Utility Operator 2 with Road Operations and Construction, Transportation and Public Works, Streets and Roads East, Grading and Shouldering

UTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Safely Operates vehicles and equipment (such as but not limited to the following; 3 ton, 5 ton, Bobcat, ride on street roller, compressor;
Load and unload equipment and materials;
Maintain and safely operate assigned tools/equipment;
Work safely and cooperatively assisting other classifications;
Mandatory participation in Winter Works including shift work
Contribute to meeting the operational objectives of the business unit and HRM;
Other duties as assigned within IMO
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: - Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Three (3) years related work experience;
- Must have a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License Class 3 with airbrake endorsement.
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities: - Must have good verbal and written communication skills;
- Must have a good attendance and work record;
- Working knowledge of methods, material and equipment usage involved in Municipal Operations;
- Capable and willing to work inside and outside in varying weather conditions;
- Ability to work independently, and as a team player;
- Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively with coworkers, traffic control, and members of the public, including oral and written communication;
- WHMIS, CPR/First Aid certification, Provincial Traffic Control Certification and Signage Course or ability to successfully complete;
- Duties and responsibilities to be performed inside and outside in varying weather conditions;
- Operation of equipment and tools in difficult conditions;
- Work environment may include industry acceptable levels of dust, fumes, noise, etc.
- Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

WORK STATUS: Full Time Permanent
HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm; 40 hours per week
SALARY: $25.37/hour, as per the CUPE Local 108 Collective Agreement
WORK LOCATION: 11 Turner Drive, Dartmouth FLAHERTY
