Role Summary

The Carpenter position is a full time regular position on our construction site.  This position reports to the BlueCity Site Superintendent and works closely alongside other team members in a collaborative manner. All work performed must comply within BlueCity’s high quality standards of quality workmanship.  BCC employees all work to ensure their work is done in a safe and timely manner.

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Must have knowledge of plan reading, layout, concrete formwork, framing, steel stud, window and door install, siding, roofing, drywall, minor electrical and minor mechanical

2. Ability to operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment

3. Responsible to anticipate issues related to quality, safety, deadlines and proactively communicate them to the Carpenter Foreman

4. Knowledgeable of other trade disciplines and have a good understanding of the processes on a construction site

5. Maintain understanding and ensure compliance with BlueCity’s safety program

6. Perform other related duties as required

Education & Experience

Minimum High School diploma or equivalent. Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of carpentry or hands on construction experience industry. Ability to work with hand and power carpentry tools and other construction equipment. Level 2 First Aid an asset. Ability to maintain a positive professional attitude and work in a fast paced environment. Experience in large projects would be an asset. Must have a satisfactory criminal record check.
