Position Overview

As a Contents Field Processing Technician, you will be making a difference in people’s lives by restoring their belongings after they have been damaged by a fire or flood. You will be restoring damaged property directly on site in peoples homes, or commercial buildings. This position is trusted to handle our customers’ possessions with care as they clean, deodorize, disinfect, protect, re-pack and store them until they can be taken back to their newly restored homes.

Duties and Responsibilities

Contents

  • Identify which items are able to be restored and which ones are a loss
  • Pack up items to be transported to the processing warehouse
  • When the home or building is restored, return the items and put furniture back in place
  • Be on site in a customers home to clean, disinfect, and restore contents
  • Work with a motivated team in a safe and clean work environment
  • Pack up contents with protection and care to avoid damage
  • Follow procedures for cleaning structures and contents, and handling customers’ possessions
  • Thoroughly clean smoke residue form contents and structures
  • Provide post construction cleaning to prepare a house for occupancy
  • Work with a motivated team to ensure a safe work environment

Health and Safety

  • Ensure that self and others adhere to Canstar’s health and safety practices and procedures
  • Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently
  • Understand safety policies and protocols
  • Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required

Who we are looking for:

A personable and well-organized individual with outstanding customer service skills is a match made in heaven for a the Contents Field Technician. Experience working in a fast-paced environment focused on internal and external customer service will have you off on the right foot for this position.

Other important attributes of a future Canstar are:

  • The physical ability to bend, reach, lift 50lbs safely and repeatedly and stand throughout your shift
  • A great attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and serve our customers – we have a fun and hard-working team and are looking for someone with the skills to compliment them
  • A clean criminal record is required

Working Conditions

  • Coquitlam, BC with travel throughout the Lower Mainland (mileage reimbursed). Job sites are mostly indoors.
  • This role is primarily Monday to Friday with shifts from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, but may be called after hours for priority claims. This position also works in a loud environment with unsanitary contents. PPE may be required at all times.
