AECOM is currently seeking a Geoscientist to join our team. We are looking for candidates that are enthusiastic and team-oriented with strong interest and technical capabilities in a diverse range of geoscience disciplines including geology, geophysics, hydrogeology and geochemistry. In this role, you will work with our experienced team of geologists, hydrogeologists, geochemists, environmental scientists and remedial engineers on projects in the mining, remediation, civil infrastructure, waste management, and water supply sectors across Canada and internationally. Preference is for the successful candidate to be based out of our Calgary office. This is a Full-time role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team of geoscientists and engineers on a wide variety of mining, major infrastructure, remediation and oil and gas opportunities.
  • Conduct filed investigations including drilling and logging of soil and rock core, sampling of soil, rock, groundwater, surface water and soil gas, instrumentation and monitoring well installation and sampling, contaminated site assessments and remediation.
  • Contribute to the design and oversee laboratory testing programs to evaluate soil, bedrock, groundwater, surface water and soil vapour.
  • Support development of environmental databases, geological databases, and geological models to support data visualization, environmental assessments, remedial evaluations and risk assessments using software packages such as EQuIS, Leapfrog and Earth Volumetric Studio.
  • Collect, process, interpret and report geoscientific data.
  • Work closely with geotechnical engineers, hydrogeologists and environmental site assessment professionals to develop and implement subsurface investigation plans of soil, sediment, bedrock, groundwater, contaminant plumes and permafrost.
  • Support offices across Canada, and internationally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, or related science/engineering discipline with an emphasis on earth and environmental sciences.
  • Immediately Eligible or Registered as a Geoscientist-In-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or similar association.
  • 2+ years of experience working at remote field sites across Western and Northern Canada.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Hydrogeology or related engineering discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to complete field investigations, travel, and periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs.
  • Experience with geoscientific software packages such as EQuIS, Leapfrog, Earth Volumetric Studio, Golden Software (Grapher, Surfer, Strater) and standard GIS software packages are considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to utilize various programming languages (e.g. Python, R Studio, MATLAB, etc.) to collect, process and present large datasets more efficiently.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods including familiarity with statistical software.
  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
