Junior Project Manager (Highway Maintenance Industry)

AAA Striping is a well-established pavement marking company serving Western Canada, primarily Alberta, since 1981. Our Core focus is highway maintenance activities- Road Marking, Crack Sealing, Spray Patching- with majority of the work acting as the general contractor-working with Government, Municipalities, Towns, & Cites. A smaller portion of our work our team installs pavement markings as a sub contractor to paving general contractors. Role Overview:

As a Junior Project Manager, you will be a key communication link between AAA Striping management, field crews, and clients. Your responsibilities will include planning, organizing, and coordinating job site needs under the direction of our management team. This role is perfect for someone looking to develop their skills in project management and gain hands-on experience in the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

- Central Communication Hub: Act as the main point of contact between clients, field foremen, and management.

- Scheduling: Manage the scheduling of 4-6 crews across Western Canada to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.

- Project Planning: Managing both long-term and short-term project planning and scheduling.

- Daily Coordination: Keep management informed of daily activities and job completion levels.

- Client Meetings: Attend and actively participate in client meetings.

- Documentation: Interpret drawings, understand project specifications, and ensure all contract commitments are met.

- Progress Reporting: Lead all progress reporting for crews assigned.

- Process Improvement: Develop and implement strategies to improve processes and procedures.

- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot project issues such as bad weather, scheduling conflicts, and quality control.

- Safety: Promote and ensure adherence to all company health and safety standards.

- Documentation: Ensure all project documents are signed and completed.

- Learning Opportunity: Be open to learning all aspects of the business.

- Estimating and Operational Objectives: Get involved in estimating, project management, and operational objectives to understand the full scope of company operations.

- Quality Checks: Collaborate with the foreman and client representatives to manage quality checks and eliminate rework.

- Coordination: Work with the Foreman & Operations Manager to coordinate materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

- Education: Diploma in Construction or Civil Engineering Technology is preferred.

- Minimum 2 years of experience in high-volume dispatching/scheduling.

- Experience in coordinating projects with exposure to the construction industry, particularly high volume short duration projects, is an asset.

- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

- Behavioral characteristics such as assertiveness, critical thinking, and self-motivation.

- Valid Driver's License.

- Familiarity with the construction industry is an asset.

- Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and time-management skills.

- Logical thinker and problem solver.

- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

- Self-motivated with strong communication and planning skills.

- Ability to maintain good client relationships.

- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.

- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
