Job Description - Quality Assurance Specialist

Overview Job Description The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is accountable for the administration and maintenance of the VSY Quality Management System. This includes ongoing assessment to ensure that it continues to meet the objectives of both the Seaspan Shipyards Quality Policy and Quality Management System manual and works to address identified deficiencies. Focus of this role will be on planning and conducting regular audits to address organizational risks, driving corrective action closure and process improvements, and maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standard. This role reports to the QA Supervisor. Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. What You’ll Do
  • Leads internal audits and external audits (e.g., ISO, customer, process, subcontractor, etc.).
  • Supports development of annual audit plan.
  • Maintains baseline quality metrics, and customer quality report deliverables.
  • Coordinates and maintains the quality management system within Vancouver Shipyards by monitoring, reporting, and administering actions which prevent the occurrence of non-conformities and communicates the requirements and procedures to all employees.
  • Evaluates non-conformances (NC) and coordinates with Shipyard personnel to verify the process or amend system procedures to resolve any non-conformity.
  • Manages closure of NCs as lead approver to confirm implementation of corrective actions and supporting OQE.
  • Mediates between departments for any issues pertaining to investigations and OQEs and leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions for internal customers.
  • Project lead for QA continuous improvement projects.
  • Creates, facilitates, and participates in Quality process training across the organization.
  • Intelex Super User.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • 8-10 years’ experience with complex engineering projects involving diverse stakeholders or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical degree with experience in Quality Assurance.
  • Lead auditor certification by recognized company, such as BSI, Exemplar Global, is required.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Shipbuilding or related trades experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Intelex software is an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
