Job Description - Superintendent - Supply Chain

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

You will have the ability to make a significant contribution to the project team as the Company pursues the disciplined development of the Blackwater Mine. Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.

 

Reporting to the Manager - Supply Chain, the Superintendent – Supply Chain (Contracts and Item Category Management) is responsible for overseeing the strategic sourcing process, managing item categories, and ensuring efficient contract management to support operational requirements. This role acts as a team lead for the Supply Chain team, providing guidance and direction to team members. The Superintendent will also assist with requirements, compile specifications, solicit quotations, and issue contracts.

 

Work Location: Can be based in the Vancouver or Prince George office.

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.

  • Help with leading the continuous improvement and execution of purchasing strategy, policies, and guidelines regarding materials categories and contracts.

  • Manage the material demand yearly needs with the user areas and identify and develop item categories and suppliers to support commercial and operational requirements.

  • Interface with key supplier executives, maintaining strong working relationships.

  • Develop and implement new concepts in work simplification and cost reduction.

  • Service user departments in the preparation and evaluations of bids, negotiation with suppliers, award recommendations, issuance of award and regret letters.

  • Administrate tender processes, participating in the selection of suppliers and bid lists. Provides ongoing advice, answer queries from suppliers.

  • Develop skills and abilities of indirect reports in the supply chain functions of the organization.

  • Assist with supporting employees within the Employee Development Pathway and maintaining appropriate records.

  • Minimum a bachelor's degree in capital Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or a combination of education and work experience

  • Completion and/or currently taking Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) courses

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a Supply Chain role, and familiarity with the mining or energy industry 

  • Familiarity with the mining or energy industry, providing a contextual understanding of industry-specific supply chain dynamics.

  • In-depth knowledge of contract management, strategic sourcing, and category management.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the capability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

  • Experience in managing vendor relationships, negotiations, and performance evaluations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills

  • Strong knowledge of mining suppliers in British Columbia would be considered an asset

  • Able to work in a team and play a leadership role when needed

  • Attention to detail, especially with writing and editing

  • Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines while producing high quality, error-free content

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and finance principles

  • Strong liaising and networking skills
