Join a team of forward thinking, enthusiastic, results-driven and collaborative professionals. To support our mission, we are currently seeking an experienced Supervisor (Mechanical) to join our team on our Blackwater project. This is a site-based role on a 14:7 roster schedule.

What does this role involve?

To provide assistance to the Senior Supervisor or Construction Manager through the coordination and management of site and subcontract teams to deliver the project scope in accordance with detailed specifications, programmes and budget.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Liaise with other departments and provide meaningful feedback and recommendations on process improvements.
  • Coordinate the work of employees and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to the development of work methods and rolling short term construction programmes and corrective actions
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with agreed safe methods of work.
  • Maintain effective consultation with workers representatives and subcontractors on industrial and safety committees.
  • Ensure compliance with internal filing and document control systems and procedures
  • Maintain records of all site work testing
  • Coordinate resolution of technical issues and requests for information arising during construction
  • Attend and participate in internal and subcontractor site meetings.
  • Manage changes to construction scope ensuring appropriate risk assessments take place.
  • Ensure compliance and effective implementation of legislative requirements, company policies, processes, procedures and management systems.
  • Participate in subcontractor pre-mobilisation reviews and follow up with compliance audits
  • Review, monitor and report subcontractor schedules and daily work activities and performance
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system ensuring that Sedgman quality standards are implemented on the project.
About you:

To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated, well organised with the ability to manage multiple work fronts in a busy environment. You will be able to think out-of-the-box and be the driver to find innovative solutions. This is a site based role.

  • Trade or tertiary engineering qualifications, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years site construction experience including subcontractor management, in a project environment with familiarity in project management practices
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage self and others time, priorities and activities
  • MS Office.
  • The ability to work on site is a pre-requisite for this position
  • Mining construction experience
  • Workplace health and safety certifications.

Salary range in BC: $90,000-130,000 The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
