Analyst, Insurance & Risk Management Services
Salary $70,000 - $85,000
Toronto, Ontario
18 Month Contract


Reporting to the Vice President of Insurance & Risk Management Services, the successful candidate would be responsible for implementation and the execution of all Account Management, Risk Management & Underwriting Services. Works with the Manager to support and implement short and long-term strategies for the department.


The Division manages the sales and service of commercial property & casualty insurance and risk management for new and existing customers. It also leads the creation, execution, and upkeep of a comprehensive communications, marketing, and branding strategy across all business lines to optimize sales opportunities.



Job Activities/Tasks

  • Supports department administration regarding all aspects of corporate insurance programs such as Comprehensive General Liability, Fleet Vehicle, Property, Directors & Officers as well as Crime, Excess, Credit and any other insurance programs
  • Responsibilities include compilation of underwriting information and support with coverage placement
  • Assists in the delivery of risk management and insurance consulting services to a diverse client base
  • Activities include insurance policy preparation and delivery, support of underwriting data collection system and data analysis, and risk exposure/claims analysis
Client Care/Account Management Backoffice Support

  • Services existing accounts include but are not limited to answering policy questions, processing policy changes and fulfilling a steady volume of insurance certificate requests as client transactions
  • Supports new market development through research, data aggregation and sales material content development support
  • Manages internal data systems as related to customer base and assists with client renewal process
  • Performs complex data analysis to identify insufficient insurance requirements in customer contracts
  • Prepares applications and other required documents relevant to new sales and annual renewals
  • Executes post-sale account management workflow, including initiation of billing, policy issuance, and file documentation
  • Performs renewal account reviews for all existing accounts
  • Gathers analyzes and ensures the accuracy of pricing and proposal information (rating and pricing tool output, proposal language, coverage forms and endorsements, financial and legal agreements and offer/disclosure/election forms) used by the underwriter to complete the coverage review, hazard analysis, pricing strategy and proposal
  • Provides customer service to facilitate the processing of business questions, and resolves problems on topics such as policy transactions, billing, and service needs
  • Supports the development of strategies and tools to validate underwriting/rating information
  • Supports the development of the insurance business handling system, developing plans, interacting with vendors and leading execution


Risk Management Support

  • Provides support in the risk management analytic function of the department including, but not limited to, identification of trends/frequency and support actions to reduce loss exposure, loss frequency and severity
  • Provides customer support in the risk management process
  • Researches risk management topics in support of resource development
  • Drafts client-facing risk management resources/communications
  • Other duties as assigned.
  Skills, Knowledge, Experience Required

  • Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Risk Management or a relevant discipline
  • Working towards Certified Risk Management (CRM) designation and Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) designation an asset
  • 3+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience with a strong emphasis on complex CGL and Property exposures, knowledge of the electricity industry an asset.
  • Direct knowledge of commercial property/casualty products such as CGL, D&O, Property, Boiler & Machinery, Crime, Fleet Automobile, Excess, Cyber, and Terrorism.
  • Broad knowledge of all classes of insurance & underwriting issues.
  • Advanced consultative skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships within all levels of an organization.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to create organized and articulate communications that are easily understood by customers/stakeholders.
  • Strong detail orientation with the ability to research, compile, and report on data.
  • Motivated, high-energy team player with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) with advanced skills in MS Excel.
