JOB PURPOSE:

 

The Law Society of Ontario is seeking an articling student to work in the Litigation Services department of the Professional Regulation Division for the 2024-2025 articling term. Under the supervision of their principal, the articling student will spend 10 months supporting the Discipline Counsel and Discipline Paralegal in the Litigation Services department. The articling student will assist with hearings before the Law Society Tribunal and/or courts, conduct research, draft research memoranda, draft documents for hearings, assist counsel with hearing preparation, interview witnesses, and otherwise assist with identifying legal issues and applying the Rules of Professional Conduct, the Law Society’s By-laws and the Law Society Act. There will be opportunities to attend hearings and to perform some independent advocacy under supervision.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

  • Applicants must be registered in the Lawyer Licensing Process with the Law Society of Ontario. 
  • Knowledge of legal research databases and Microsoft Office suite is an asset.
  • Proficiency in oral and written French is an asset.

The start date for the position is somewhat flexible, but will begin no later than August 12, 2024 .
